FOOTBALL

Football is a game activity involving one or more players. Games are played primarily for entertainment or enjoyment, but may also serve as exercise. Everyone in this world has their own favourite games, so do I. My favourite game is football. I often play this with my friends in the evening. I like this game because it is exciting and challenging. 

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. It is a ball game played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score by moving the ball skilfully into the opposing team's goal. The winner is the team which has scored the most goals at the end of the match.

Football is played at a professional level all over the world.  Millions of people regularly go to football stadiums to follow their favourite team or player, while millions more with great interest watch the game on television. A very large number of people also play football at an amateur level. In many parts of the world, football bring great passions and plays an important role in the life of individual fans, local communities, and even nations; it is therefore often claimed to be the most popular sport in the world.

There are many worldwide international football competitions. One of these is the World Cup organized by the members of the Federation Internationale de Football Association. Over 190 national teams compete in qualifying tournaments within the scope of continental confederations for a place in the finals. The finals tournament, which is held every four years, now involves 32 national teams competing. The next World Cup takes place in Qatar 2022.

The football star I admire most  is Cristiano Ronaldo, nicknamed CR7. The Real Madrid forward in Portugal’s captain, most capped player and leading all-time goalscorer. Still supremely fit and as committed as ever, he is more of a penalty box operator these days, having lost none of his scoring touch or his gift for breaking records.  

There are many reasons football is my favourite game. I learnt team building, discipline as well as teamwork through playing football. I still remember it was Anand Niketan where I learned to play football, it was a fun time playing football with my friends.
